Some Animals Just Don’t Need Males
Posted By Zoe Delphy On October 2, 2008
Did you know that there are certain animal species where there are no males only females. This is fairly common among insects and worms but also occurs to a lesser extent in some lizards.  Due to only one sex existing the females are actually able to lay eggs without the need of a male (i.e. no fertilization is required).Â
This method of reproduction is known as parthenogenesis and will almost always leads to the birth of female offspring. As an example the New Mexico whiptail lizard is 100% parthenogenic and has been bred in captivity for many generations with no males at all.

Ummm..that is like kinda weird
wow…so what, do the women lizards hump each other? that is wacko.
weird…
I find it very fascinating that not all females need a male to survive; although I do really love the man creatures, it’s interesting to know that I too will survive! (not a lesbian either)!
hmmmm….really weird….
ok?? so weid.. but cool XD
new mexico whiptail lizard lives in dry areas which they didn’t included
wow…thts soo cool…but also like sad…the girls would get lonely…and would miss out 99.9999999999% of all fun in life
We look at the world through our own rose colored classes. It is nice to know that lizards point out that the world is not as we perceive it in all cases. Learning new facts that may shock and amaze leaves one with thoughts of a future where science takes out the gender factor and swaps in the genome and asexual reproduction. There is much we can learn from nature.
the moon iss huge
im dead
umm..this is like totally wierd but soo cool….and poor girls they wont have fun with the male…;)
oooohhhhhh!!!!!!! that is so weird….
